Jason Moyer is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and is the founding partner of Moyer Law Group. He has spent the past 16 years representing those companies that develop, construct and participate in large dollar, complex construction projects statewide, including owners, developers, contractors, sureties, material suppliers and design professionals. His focus on client trust and client objectives, in combination with developing case specific winning strategies, has produced consistently successful results for firm clients. The process of attention to important details, solid preparation and constant evaluation at every phase of a construction or commercial dispute is the hallmark of his team’s approach.
Jason’s trial experience spans the State of Florida, with trials in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Miami-Dade and other Counties. In Hillsborough County, he obtained outright defense verdicts for his clients, including the General Contractor and Surety involved in the full-scale remodel of a Tampa Housing Authority Project. In addition to defending against the subcontractor’s claims on the construction bond and for breach of contract, his client also prevailed on a counterclaim for costs to repair the subcontractor’s deficient flooring work.
In Miami-Dade County, he effectively defended the railing subcontractor responsible for the manufacturing, coating and installation of the balcony railings on a 30-story, 210-unit, luxury high rise condominium tower on Williams Island. After eight days of trial before the Honorable Judge Peter Lopez, the case successfully settled.
While the bulk of his practice is comprised of defending large contractors and subcontractors in breach of contract and negligence claims involving large hotels, condominiums and multi-family apartment complexes, Jason’s litigation experience also includes the representation of a Fortune 300 Company in a personal injury lawsuit involving a massive carbon dioxide spill.
In Pinellas County, Jason defended and obtained a complete defense verdict for a driver involved in a rear end automobile accident. Despite his client admitting liability for the accident, the defense disputed that the accident caused any permanent injuries, and after 5-days of trial the jury awarded no damages to the Plaintiff.
In addition to trials, Jason has arbitrated or mediating over one hundred construction related disputes throughout Florida, and received an “AV,” or top rating, from Martindale-Hubbell in 2014. Jason was listed by Florida Trend Magazine as Legal Elite, is named in Best Lawyers of America® for Commercial Litigation and was recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as one of Florida’s Top 100 Lawyers in the state.
