Melissa Petersen
Attorney at Law
Melissa Petersen practices in the areas of construction law and commercial litigation. She represents developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in disputes involving single family homes, condominiums, and commercial and retail spaces. Her practice also encompasses premise liability and personal injury defense.
Melissa graduated summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University with her degree in Law & Society. She received the Outstanding Thesis Award for “Cell Site Location Information: Looking for Reasonableness in the Third Party Doctrine.” From there, Melissa graduated cum laude from University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law. While in law school, she served as the Senior Managing Editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy. She also served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy, and as a Research Assistant. Melissa was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Book Awards for Trial Practice and for Civil Litigation Skills for New Lawyers, the latter of which was taught by the Honorable Paul C. Huck of the Southern District of Florida. Melissa interned at the State Attorney’s Office for the Eighth Judicial Circuit and was a Summer Associate for Moyer Law Group. Following graduation, Melissa returned to St. Petersburg to join Moyer Law Group as an Associate.
Outside of the office, Melissa can be found in the gym, at the pool, or taste-testing one of St. Petersburg’s many delicious restaurants.
